Volume III, Issue 2, June 1976, And It Is Divine Magazine

"And It Is Divine" was the name of this colour magazine published by Divine Light Mission in the USA from November 1972 until the late 1970's when it was replaced by "Elan Vital." It began as a monthly magazine attempting to carry a wide spectrum of articles relating to the wider alternative culture with highbrow pretensions and ended the same as all other Divine Light Mission magazines printing pictures and speeches of Prem Rawat's or his immediate family or close followers.

"Man is at the point of searching for pure truth. He doesn't want puzzles, he doesn't want jokes in his life any more. He wants truth and nothing but the truth."

Such A Fine Line Argentina, 7 January 1976

Because, what's my cut? Nothing. What do I get from it? Nothing. Nothing whatsoever, you know. Its not that I enjoy staying in hotels. No. I have got a beautiful, beautiful residence that premies from all over the world have paid for, the most beautiful residence in Malibu. It looks over the ocean, it's all by itself, it's really beautiful. I don't need anything. But it is my duty to come and advise premies, to remind premies, from time to time, that they have to do satsang, service and meditation. At least give it a try. If you can't do it. I guess you can't do it. Maybe you are too lazy to do it.

Each Step Is Our Goal Argentina, 7 January 1976

And so it's just very perfect that Maharaj Ji is here now in this world. I look at Maharaj Ji and I realize that he has come to this world for us - only for us. He has to go through very many sufferings to be here in this human body, as we all do. But he has really come for us."

Prem Rawat's "Knowledge" has three parts: regularly listening to his speeches, doing voluntary work for organisations serving him or donating money and daily meditation correctly practicing the four techniques he recommends. The techniques are so simple it's hard to see how they could be practiced incorrectly. First technique ("Divine Light") involves sticking your thumb and middle finger on your eyeballs (NB: with eyes closed) and your index finger between your eyebrows. Second technique: ("Heavenly Music") poking your thumbs into your ears and listening. Third technique: ("Holy Name") thinking about your breathing (NB: continue to breathe). Fourth technique: ("Nectar") curling your tongue backwards and tasting. Rawat's father taught slightly different techniques but either way it's difficult to see how these could produce the benefits claimed for them especially as Rawat claims His Knowledge is the only method of attaining real happiness and love in this life.
