Songs of Praise and Worship Inspired by Prem Rawat: Downpour of the Holy Nam
https://youtu.be/-1SkxsEG3EAAt the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s Prem Rawat intensified His demands to His premies for devotion and surrender and the songs sung at His festivals and recorded and sold became pseudo-Hindi bhajans like Downpour of the Holy Name sung in English. It was filmed at the 1980 Holi festival. Its like a long video of Prem Rawat in a wet t-shirt but luckily the picture is so degraded it is not offensive.
For the first 20 years of his career Prem Rawat (Maharaji) was known as the Lord of the Universe or its Hindi equivalent, Guru Maharaj Ji and known as the Lord or our Lord for short. In 1979 Prem Rawat indulged his enjoyment in bhajans and had them played at all his festivals and recorded and sold. This song is timeless and is still on high rotation in Prem Rawat's Greatest Hits. Iy has been recycled by removing the references to the Holy Name.
Downpour of the Holy Name
Chorus:
With the downpour of the Holy Name
The Divine colors began to rain.
Began to rain, began to rain,
Began to rain, began to rain,
With the downpour of the Holy Name
The Divine colors began to rain.
The problems of birth and death disappear
When the longing for Holy Name appears.
My Satguru gave me the sign;
I have found my true home again.
True home again, true home again,
True home again, true home again.
(Chorus)
The spirit ascended through the inner gate
And came to the Lord's palace in perfect state.
There the unstruck music was played:
Its sweetness removed all suffering and pain.
Suffering and pain. suffering and pain.
Suffering and pain, suffering and pain.
(Chorus)
Resting at the Feet of my only Beloved,
All my questions and doubts were ended.
The cycle of karma was cut away;
Fear has gone, liberation attained.
Liberation attained, liberation attained,
Liberation attained, liberation attained.
(Chorus)
Satguru gave me the key to realize;
His Word is as straight as the eagle flies.
Boundless joy has sprung in my heart;
Birth has been conquered and freedom obtained.
Freedom obtained, freedom obtained,
Freedom obtained, freedom obtained. (Chorus)
