This is a very early speech, Rawat was 14 years old and had been in England and USA for 2½ months. His voice had not broken, it was high, boyish and he spoke with a pronounced Indian accent. He had not yet begun to use the repetition of phrases like "it's like" and you know" or constantly repeat that "Knowledge is beautiful" though he does say 'God' 36 times, 'Knowledge 20 times and 'perfect' 7 times. One of sillier things he said is that if he wanted to be a rich man he would have stayed in school. He said many times in the next 10 years how anxious he was to leave school and really even an idiot could have seen that his only path to riches was to follow in his father's footsteps as the Incarnation of God on earth. One of the most untruthful things he said is that he doesn't like cars. He said many times in his life how much he likes cars even as a child and by his 50th birthday had as many as 50 cars. Rawat mentions Sitaram as giving a prior speech. Sitaram, born William Ganz, who now calls himself Rampuri was an early and influential Western premie who was important in getting DLM started in the USA but returned to India to live as a chillum sucking sadhu and despises Rawat and everything he stands for.

While the young Rawat apparently made sweeping statements about his power to give people Supreme Knowledge of God and Peace he hedged his claims with the disclaimers that the aspirant required "a guileless heart", had to be humble and had to give devotion to the pudgy young Indian Perfect Master.

PMT #017: "I Am A Road" Boulder Colorado, 28th August 1971

Dear brothers and sisters, Maybe this is the last time I'm speaking in Denver or in Colorado for 1971 and I'm very pleased to see the people here for they are most fortunate and lucky people dwelling just besides the nature - the perfect nature of God. But there is a nature which dwells inside also. Just enjoy that also. There are beautiful hills, beautiful sceneries and beautiful things created for you by God. But there is a scenery - beautiful mountains, beautiful air, beautiful sound, beautiful Light - inside also, created for you. But like I am sitting in New York City and I want to enjoy the beauty of Colorado, I cannot. Because if I want to enjoy the beauty, I will have to come to Colorado to enjoy the beauty of Colorado.

In the same way, if you want Knowledge, I have come here to give you something. I have brought with me something very precious. Because of that, the East was shining like anything. India was one of the holiest country because of that thing. And I have brought that thing here now to give you. For there has never been a time when a Holy Master never dwelt here. But if you want, you will have to search. You will have to look for him. I am a well and if you want to drink water from me, you will have to come to me. I am a light. If you want to see me, you will have to come to me. I am a road. If you want to walk on me, you will have to come upon me. Same way the God is. If you want to see God, you will have to first realize Who is God for God is not, we know that God is omnipresent. But if we want to see Him, we will have to see Him by the omnipresent eyes.

Krishna says, Krishna says, "That Arjun, you aren't seeing me." Arjun says, "Krishna, I am seeing you face to face and you are saying, 'That You aren't seeing me!' O Krishna, Tell me what is this mystery?" So Krishna has explained it very well there, that this is the body and this is negative vibration. What you can see through is all negative. If I am wearing green glasses, everything will be green for me. These eyes are also negative and can only see negative vibrations. But if you want to see positive, there's a positive eye in you also, to show you the positive vibration which is in you.

Remember, Jesus came to reveal the Truth - not to write the scriptures or not to do anything else, but to bless the people living in these countries, to bless the people of these countries, to bless the human beings existing on this astral plane. And so, now even a Holy Master has come here to give you something. If you want something from me, I can give it. Krishna says, "Receive this Knowledge, by all means, but have a guileless heart. Have a heart filled with a keen desire to know it, with love, with real love to know it."

God created sufferings. But He couldn't, He couldn't see, He couldn't bear, when He saw on this plane how the people were suffering. He Himself created suffering, but when He looked, when He peeped through, He saw that all the people were suffering. He couldn't bear that for we are His sons and He is our Father, and it is impossible for our Father to see that we are suffering and He came into this Earth to protect us.

But we were the people who jumped out of the boat. It was not the fault of the rowman who was rowing the boat but it was our fault for we jumped out of the boat; the rowman never jumped out of the boat.

I am telling you that there has never been a time when the Holy Master was not existing here. But we try to look Him through these eyes. Today the also people say, "We want to look Jesus and Jesus will cross all the clouds and come into this Earth." This has been a great mistake which the people will comm-will commit and are committing. They want to see Jesus coming out onto the clouds. But remember, there is a heaven inside us, and the clouds are devils there inside us. When Jesus will come, the Light will come. It will cross all the clouds of devils and shine. And we will reach to that place where we can never die, and nothing can happen to us. Lord Krishna says, [Hindi Quotation] what in English we call is 'liberation' "We receive to the liberation."

Have a good artist and sit behind him and tell him to make a photo, to make a scenery of that time when the world was not created. Neither the sun was shining, neither there was darkness. Neither there were Earth, neither light, neither sky, air, water, trees, leaves, rocks, human beings, birds, animals. Nothing was there. And tell him to make a photo, a scenery of that time. He will just sit and think but he couldn't think, he will not be able to think. He will leave his picture just blank, the paper just blank but it is white; it is now present.

Scientists have tried to discover, but they can't discover. For they can't think of a time when sun, moon, Earth, water, sky, air was not existing. So they can't discover that thing. We cannot see, we cannot feel, that Light with these senses. Because Tulsidas has said, "[Hindi Quotation] If you want to experience God, you will have to get out of all these-all these senses and then we will be able to see God."

I have brought a technique with me. I won't take too long, because uh there is a time when everything loses patience, and the people don't want to listen. I won't take too long, for I want to say everything in summary. Because this is my last time maybe. Maybe I will come to America back again or not. So, I have brought a technique for you people, and if you want to know it, you are always welcome, always welcome.

Jesus came. He said, he quite declared that, "I am the Son of God." What did people think? They took the stones and throwed them at him. But I am not saying that I am the Son of God or that and that. I think that I am not worthy of doing anything. I am not a scientist. I I I haven't got so much intellect to speak even and all those things which a man can do. But even then, every man has some ability of him. Some the, the devils, devil people have got ability to do some devil things and good people have got ability to do some good things. By Guru Maharaj-Guru Maharaj Ji's Grace, I have got ability to give you some Knowledge, to give you this su-supreme Knowledge to which you are thinking in many, many different things, many, many different things. But remember, you can't get from thems. For this is out of them. This is out of them. In a book is written 'apple.' But you cannot eat it. ??? a diagram showing apple. You make the diagram some sound bring like this, like this, like this, we write 'sound.' We make, we wrote the vibrations of sound. But that is not sound. Sound is within us which has been the source of all the sounds we are producing. Listen, (claps his hands) I have made clapped and a vibration, this is a vibration, this is a vibration, when both vibrations met a sound was produced, a, a vibration was produced but when the both vib-that vibration finished these vibrations also, these vibrations also finished. Means, when I clap like this a sound was produced, after that, this vibration joined with this vibration, sound joined with some other vibration and that was all.

We have-we are existing now and doing so many things, but there will be a time when we will dead. There will be a graveyard, and on that graveyard there will be written our name, our date of birth, and when we died. That's all. But there is something else to know. Something else. Man cannot reach it by intellect, by this mind, because this mind can only think. See we died in our addresses, 6861 Alta Loma Terrace, 9028 and Los Angeles, California, USA. Some people who are just funny write after USA, Universe, then they write world, so many things and after some time they shut. Why? They should write something more.

We are bounded by our clothes. Our clothes are bounded by air, air is bounded by our house provinces. The house is bounded on a city, towns and country. The country is bounded in Earth. The Earth is bounded by the universe. But universe is bounded by? And we stop. For our mind cannot reach there. Our mind cannot reach that stage where we can think which is absolute, because our mind is not absolute. Our mind is not absolute, so we cannot think about absolute. I don't like pictures. How can I think about pictures? I don't like movies. How can I think about movies? I don't like cars. How can I think about cars? Because I don't like them, how can that idea come to my mind?

This is imperfect. How can this mind think about perfect? That's why egos are being created. So many different sort of doubts are created. So many different things are created. Man is muzzled up, is puzzled up. That's all.

If you want to get rid of this world – that means if you want to get the perfect liberation dwelling in this world - you can get. If you want the perfect liberation, dwelling in this world, with this body and alive, you can get. I have got a technique. See, people who are older to me, my brothers, my fathers, my mothers, sisters and my brothers, small brothers, it is for everyone. Come to me and I will give you. You want it? I have come here. You don't want it? I will go. I am leaving on Sunday evening so you haven't got much time. If you want it, want it, come and contact me tomorrow morning, that's all because I'm leaving in evening. I will leave by 5 o'clock and I have come here.

I left my studies. If I wanted to be a rich man, I could have studied and been a engineer or a marshal or a general or a president or a minister, and do much corruption, and gain too much money! I could also have had bank accounts - millions and millions of dollars, billions of dollars. But I, I don't want that. I don't want that. That cannot give me peace.

If I wanted to have cars, I would order my disciples and tell them, "Please give me cars." I can have cars. But I don't like cars. Those cars can't give me peace.

There are so many things in this world, in this world to love. But theres-those things can't give me peace. My education was not giving me peace. My education was puzzling up me, was wasting my simply time. So I left it because I had come into this world for some purpose and that was not to study. Not to waste my times to be a clerk in a school. But I have come here, into this world, to find something. Maybe, I was studying and I was walking across the road and some car came and hit me. What was the use of me to exist in this world? I was just wasting my time. But now, I have recognized that thing which cannot die, which cannot die!

So Jesus says, "Know my Knowledge and you won't die. You won't perish from this world." This is the mystery. I used to take Bible and read these verses and throw it away. I didn't, "This is impossible. Every man has to go from this world." Because I have seen my relatives passed away and many, many, many people passed away. When I used to see a dead body going, I used to be in just grief. I used to take Bible, read it, take it away, put it away. Gita - put it away. Ramayana - put it away. Because those-these things were not, were not telling me the mystery but they were more puzzling me into the mystery. "There is a Knowledge which is away from sun, moon, the sky – everything and know it, and then you will, you cannot perish." I used to read that and be more puzzled. "How can that be possible?"

I went to my father. I used to listen to all the satsangs, all the holy discourses, that he gave, and observe that. In one discourse clearly he said, "Come to me. Come to me and I will give you peace." The next day we were in Dehra Dun. I went to him, prayed to him, asked him, requested him - not with a doubt-a doubted heart. Not with that, "Oh, whether this man will be able to give to me or not?" And he gave me this Knowledge and I was satisfied. I knew the all mysteries of this world in one second. As soon as this Knowledge was given me, I knew all the mysteries of this world. And it was fantastic. It was just far out! Because it was just complete perfect. And I was reaching that state of perfection which I had never reached in my life.

People say, "If peace will come to us, how we will recognize it?" There is a just-born babe, just-born babe. Never had any milk till yet. The baby is crying. Mother goes, feeds, and that little baby is quiet. Why? The baby never had milk in his life. He was just born and he was crying for something, and something came and he was shut. Why? He had, he had no thinking power at that time, because he was a small babe and what he is-he could see is his roof and the sun inside so something else inside that soul, but he was crying. Our soul is crying. See, God has given us so many things, so many things, so many things. But what we have given to God? Have we given anything to God?

There was a man and he was walking in his garden when his friend came and took a flower and said, "This is a present to you." He said, "What is this present? You have taken from my garden and given to me! What is this present? Bring something from out, bring something from out which you have done. This is-was, this was my garden and you have given me something from my garden. What is this present? This is not called present." You want to give one dollar. "Okay, Guru Ji, this is one dollar." This dollar-one dollar belongs to Guru Ji. What is to give him? We give him so many things; these all belong to him. He is not for that. He is for our devotion, which is our own personal, which is our own personal devotion. And he is hungry of that. That's all.

Everything is hungry in this world. People are hungry of wealth. Mothers are uh people-mothers are hungry for their childrens to see. And good people are hungry of food. Some people are hungry of something and some people are hungry of something. But Guru is also hungry. Guru is also very hungry! He is hungry of devotion. He is hungry of devotion! So what we have to give is devotion to him. And how will we give?

Jesus said, "The people who do prayers outside and aloud, their fruit is given to them that same time." Because people praise them, "Ah, see, what a good devotee he is." He is just praying outside. Their fruits are being given to them. That's it. Have a union from inside, from God. Have a union from inside. Have a permanent union. And if you can't, come to me and I'll get you that wire. I have got a machine. I have got a machine which I have smuggled in to U.S.A. I have smuggled so many things to U.S.A. and I have brought here and I've given to people. See, if I bring something, suppose this is my watch. I bring it into U.S.A. and take it off so Customs won't be imposed on it. And this won't be called smuggling. But I have brought something in. I am giving to people. Custom people check my suitcase. What they will see is my clothes and my diaries. They closed it and gave it to me. They checked my handbag; that was papers. They closed and give it to me. But they couldn't open my heart and see what was in it, right? And so, until you find it, you are incomplete - just incomplete.

I know the nature of America. People go to their services, work all day long, sit in their cars, come back home, open their televisions, sit for breakfast, have tea and then relax in chairs. After that, they go and open their radios or steradeos (sic) or gramophones and sit down and sleep. In the morning they rise, open their televisions, have their breakfast, put on their clothes, and go off for work. But this is also work. This is also a duty, you have to obey. Why you have come into this world? Why you have come into this world? Know that, and you are perfect. You will be most intelligent people afterwards ever existed if you know why you have come into this world.

I don't know why people don't want to take it! I am not selling it. I am not saying, "Give me money" and people haven't got money and that's why they aren't taking it that's okay but I am not selling it for money. And it is something of benefit for people. Whose fault is this? Mine? Or people's? It is not my fault. Because I am shouting over loudspeakers. I'm shouting on amplifiers and people aren't listening to me. I am doing as much as I can, out of my ability. But people aren't listening to me.

I will go. And when all people will be one side of the court of God and the judge will place the whole record of people before God and read in that that they were uninitiated, unKnowledged, unqualified and unperfect, God will say, "Weren't you given this Knowledge?" And people will say, "No, Sir." But remember, the tape recorder is being taped and I will take the same tape recorder and play it before God and tell Him, "That yes, this is it." And a movie is being taken. I will show it to God and say, "This is it. I was telling people, but they aren't listening to me." And then, no verdict. Because there are no laws there, no question of verdiction (sic). You'll be straightaway sent to 8,400,000 sufferings, where you have to suffer, suffer, and suffer.

So, come and listen to me. I only want your ears - nothing else and come to me. Sunday is a holiday. Sunday is a holiday. You can come to me easily and receive this Knowledge. For it is for you, not for me. I have received it; now I am a receiver of His Grace, and giver of this Knowledge to you people. After here I am going to Virginia, first Los Angeles, then I am going to New York, Washington, fly from there to Canada and then from Canada I'm going to London back. From London, I'll go to India and that's all, that's all and if you want it, it's for you, I brought it for you.

Read as many books as you can, but without a teacher you can't, cannot be qualified. We take so many books and read them. People take Gita, take Gita and read it and have questions in their mind. And so, if this is a, this is a thing which will remove our questions, then why are questions coming to it? It is certain that questions will come to you, because it was those answers, those answers which Krishna gave were for Arjun, who had a guileless heart. If you want to understand the mystery of Gita, you will also have to become Arjun. For Krishna was saying for Arjun, and he was not writing a story there; he was saying it for Arjun. And if you want to understand the mystery of Gita, you'll have to first become Arjun.

Jesus said it for those people who were his disciples, and if you want to understand what the misery of Bible, you have to first become disciples of Jesus. Mohammed said it for the people of his time and his disciples. If you want to understand Koran, you will have to first become disciples and like and then you will understand Koran. So many books. In Aquarian Gospel, Jesus was quoted to Gita, umm I mean to say, Vedas. But the Vedas was existing before Krishna uh Jesus came. What was the need of Jesus to come?

Remember, there is a great difference between saying "water, water" and drinking it. There is a great difference between saying "food, food" and eating it. There is a great difference between saying "sleeping, sleeping" and sleeping. There's a great difference from "walking, walking" and walking.

Last time, suppose I had a good crop and I was very wealthy. And now, now I am poor. And I call, I sit before my fields and call, "Oh, my 1916's, 1970's crop. Please come back again. Oh, my 1970's crop, please come back again. Oh, my 1970's crops, come back again." They won't come. Because when they came? They came when I tried. So if I again want to gain them, I will have to try.

People say, "People aren't following him, so how can we follow?" I was in London, and there was a boy and I was driving with him. When we came to our hou-residence, residence, he parked the car in the wrong lane where it was marked with red. He parked his car there and there, there were some cars also parked. I said, "You have parked your car in the wrong place. Why have you parked your car here?" He said, "Because these cars have also parked." And there were three or four cars before him also. They were also parked wrong. So when the ticket man came giving ticket to each car, he said, "Why are you giving ticket to me?" I said, "Because all these cars have got ticket, so also receive ticket."

People say, "People aren't doing that." People will perish one day. You also will have to perish? You want liberation, and you want to contact with people also. Impossible! Because what did people did to Jesus? Crucified him! So we will have to crucify Jesus on the one hand and praise Jesus at one hand. Can you do that? Can you do that? That you will crucify Jesus at one hand - with one hand you will knock the nails in - and with other hand you will pray to Bible. Can you do that? This is what people have done. And you want to become his disciple also and you want to be with the people also?

People have to criticize God and they aren't able to understand. So you be a individual and stand on your own foot and recognize who is He. You be on your own foots. Recognize who is He. Read books. Go to holy places visit them. Do as much as you can. But if you can't find God, if you can't find God or if you can't find that peace then come to me and I will give you peace. Because I have got peace. I am a shopkeeper. If I have something in stock, I can give you those things. If I am not a shopkeeper and I haven't anything in stock, how can I give? I can't give it to you. Mahatma Guru Charanand Ji never knows Sanskrit. If I tell him to teach Sanskrit, he cannot teach me. He never knows French; if I tell him to teach me French, he cannot teach me. First he must know French to teach me.

There are many, many gurus today, and it is an impossible problem that man has to face. "Whom should I pray? Whom should I follow?" Because there are at each and every corner that you go to, you will find a guru sitting. At each and every turn of the road that you take, you will find a guru sitting. To whom should you pray? To whom should you follow? Follow him who will give you peace. That's all. That's all you are concerned with. Follow him who will give you peace.

If a mountain, there's a hole in a mountain and the water is coming out of it, I will drink it. Because it is water. It is not a poison. But if poison is coming out of taps, I won't drink it. Because it is poison. If a man says, "I am a true Guru and follow me," and he is-poison is coming out of him, you won't go and pray to him. Or if there is a man who says, "No, I can give you peace," and he is really giving peace, go to him and follow him.

As Sitaram was telling, what, what I say, I won't take you to only the-I won't give you the address of God, but take you to His home. And I challenge, I challenge that I will give you peace if you will give me devotion. Give me devotion and I will give you peace. This is my bargain. People say, "You are a shopkeeper. You are a bargainer." Yes, I am a bargainer. (End Side 1 of Tape) One saint has said "[Hindi Quotation] that we are the sellers of this Holy Name." And then he says, "[Hindi Quotation] Some people load uh what you call, gold and some people load dry fruits or something on their horses. But what we do, Lord, is we do, we load Knowledge on our horses and then carry."

But remember, this is a tap, this is a tap and I want to take water in my bucket. Mm? And the water flows from here. If I want to take water from here, I will have to place beneath the tap. If I place my bucket on top of the tap, I cannot receive the water. Or suppose today there are automatic taps. You press the button and the water will come on your mouth, right? Here is the hole from where the water has to come. I have pressed the button, and I have made my face this side. Can the water come into my mouth? Today there are other sort of taps. You press the button and the water will just pump out of them. If I face my mouth this side can I have water? If I want to have water, I will have to face towards that tap, even.

So if you want to receive God, if you want to receive Knowledge, come to me and I will give you. Satisfied - go ahead. Not satisfied - stop your car. This is a guaranteed thing. And this is not a external rituals - not external rosaries, not external ma-uh, mantras. No, nothing external. Everything is internal. What I am talking is just theory, not practical. What is written in books is theory, not practical. You-everybody knows that. But if you want to go and receive practical, you will have to go to practical to receive practical. Theories from theories and practicals from practicals.

When you go to a science laboratory, you don't take a book with you. You go without book, only exercise copy to write down the uh notes and that's all. You don't take a book there. Because you are going to do a practical thing. You don't need a theory. Read the Bible. Read the Gita. Read the Ramayana. Read so many books. But when you are going to the stage of practical, you will have to leave them. You will have to leave them. So if you want something practical, come to me. I will give you practical. So if really you are interested, I'm interested.

Teachers, if students are interested in teachers, then teachers are interested in children, in students. If you are interested in taking this Knowledge, I'm interested in giving this Knowledge free of charge. Not even a single paise. Not even a single paise. Because if suppose I put that, I put that paise in my pocket, right? And suppose I am buried. After ten days, if you open my graveyard to dig me out, you will still find that paise there already. That's all. Something goes off and even then everything is left.

People say, "Oh, my loving car." The car will be left here. Nobody has taken a car yet. Take all the records in all the newspapers and you can't read, you can't read, "That this man that man took his car to heaven. Mr So-and-so took his pretty car to his heaven." Or, "Mr So-and-so took his pretty ring to heaven." Or, "Mr So-and-so took his loving child to heaven." Or, "Mr So-and-so took his expensive Lear jet to heaven." You haven't written that. You have never heard that. And there was a, there was-we were reading in India that there was a woman that filed a case against God, because God had broken her whole house and everything like that. And what did that judges do? They just passed out a warrant against God. Right? And said, "The God has to come on so-and-so date on our court and give His attendance." But then what happened? That's all! Because God is their judge also. They are be-they are trying to become God's judge but God is judging them. And when they will go towards God, God will take their neck and say, "Hello! How do you do?"

So if you want to know God, you will have to first become humble. Not by orders. Not by like that. We will have to become humble. And if you are really humble enough, come to me. Really you will be getting bored, because I've, I've repeated this sentence, "Come to me; come to me." But this is real. This is actual.

So now I should finish, because it is ten. And you should all go back. Relax. Think over what I have said. And interested, come from ten and uh from maybe nine. Just get up earlier. No matter, for you are going to get a good thing. Get up earlier. And we will give you the address. Come to that place, and you will receive Knowledge. We will give you. And after that I'm leaving tomorrow so I won't be able to meet you and probably, not sure, a mahatma will stay here or not, I'm not sure, a mahatma will stay here or not. As you see, people become lazy after that, that ??? mahatma will stay here so we can go on next ???, so I'm not sure if a mahatma will stay here because maybe he will have to go with me so you will be given the address of the place, come to that place from ten uh from nine and till with you the Knowledge if you want. Want to ask some questions, you can come to that place and your questions will be all answered in that place from ten onwards and you'll be given the uh address of the place and come there. Please you want Knowledge should come on time and you'll be given Knowledge.
