DIVINE LIGHT MISSION

Divine Light Mission is a community that has discovered a meditation that changes consciousness. It opens people's hearts.

It's like a perfect antidote to stress, worry and fear. By practicing the meditation, people seem to love again and want to be a family.

DIVINE UNITED ORGANIZATION

Guru Maharaj Ji is the young teacher who has introduced this meditation into America. In 1973, he established an international organization called DUO -- Divine United Organization. It is made up of people who genuinely feel they want to serve the human family. It is doctors and teachers and carpenters who have formed businesses and schools based on love and human service. DUO isn't a new idea. But now it seems to work. We feel it's the meditation. When people are experiencing love inside, it makes a beautiful foundation for a school, laundromat or grocery store. DUO is all these different organizations united as a family, helping to serve the city.

DIVINE SHELTER

A community ashram for individuals wanting to learn about and experience the meditation of Guru Maharaj Ji. Aspirants can live at the Shelter while doing service in the community. Instructors called Mahatmas reveal the Knowledge or meditation practice free of charge to sincere individuals.

This is Capitol Hill's natural, vegetarian food service. A real neighborhood store. It's non-profit, so low prices and healthy foods can be combined. But most people keep coming back for the love and atmosphere of meditation.

It's a joy to serve our children. We have a school that helps a child grow while keeping the love and innocence natural to all children. The unity of all knowledge and fields of human work is central in our educational approach. The curriculum helps to develop the child's feelings, artistic sensitivity and physical coordinations as well as his intellect. INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH AWARENESS

The Institute for Health Awareness helps to treat the whole person. We take referrals from various health professionals and design individual programs that include nutrition counseling, physical fitness and stress management. Our aim is to help the individual achieve the fullest health consciousness.

WORLD WELFARE ASSOCIATION

When families and neighborhoods break down, impersonal institutions rise. WWA is hundreds of volunteers. They serve in prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, alcholic and drug centers and mental institutions. WWA makes home repairs for elderly, plans neighborhood gardens with the community and organizes -- recreation programs in city youth programs. The approach is simple: to know that love works steadily and quietly, with no sense of hurry and that love is the long term solution.
