Prem Rawat was Mohammed

Prem Rawat (Maharaji) claims to be the Incarnation of the Perfect Master in the lineage of Perfect Masters that reincarnate Himself to teach the Knowledge, that only he can reveal and inspire. Among those he has claimed to be the Perfect Master are Jesus, Krishna, Ram, Buddha, Rawat's father, Shri Hans Rawat and Mohammed and many less renowned figures. His claims about Mohammed seem dubious in the light of Muslim teachings and history but, hey, who else but the Perfect Master Himself can know about these things.

It is obvious that Rawat knew virtually nothing of Mohammed and Islam. He knew that Mohammed was an important religious figure but did not understand that considering Mohammed was in some way divine was the worst possible Islamic sin of shirk. He had seen Shia flagellating themselves in Dehra Dun and assumed they must be crazy. He told a story about Mohammed which is actually told about Guru Nanak. While pointing your feet at the Koran or towards Mecca is frowned upon there are and were no priests in Islam and certainly nobody would have dared tell Mohammed what to do. Mohammed made the rules.

That's the same thing happened with Mohammed. Look at it, we open the Bible and it says God is omnipresent, God is omnipotent, God is omniscient. What is the purpose to go to the church for? Why do we go to the church, why does there have to be a confession booth? Why can't you just confess anywhere. That's the same thing happened with Mohammed. Mohammed was lying with his feet towards the mosque. Here comes the priest and says, "Don't you know you naive, that, that you're not supposed to put your feet towards the mosque?" And he says, "Well then take them and put them where there is no God. Change the direction of my feet. If you think that's the Go, the house of God, that God lives in it, then put my feet towards the direction where there is no God."

The following quotes from his speeches deal specifically with Mohammed.

How To Save Mankind From Extinction Satsang given by Param Sant Satgurudev Shri Hans Ji Maharaj at Prem Nagar Ashram, Hardwar, India

In the Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna says, "Seek the shelter of the Perfect Master who has realized God; He will show you the way to realize Him. The Satguru or realized Soul is the only shelter and it is He alone that can provide you with the vision of God." Lord Christ said, "Come to me and I shall deliver you from all troubles." Prophet Mohammed and other prophets have all said the same thing. The question now arises, how to know and recognise the Satguru who can bestow the vision of God, Lord Krishna was the Satguru of His time; He bestowed the vision of God to His disciple Arjuna. Arjuna was shown the Divine Light by his Guru, Lord Krishna. Christ and Mohammed saw the same Light; Buddha also realized this Light. The saint who can reveal this Divine Light instantaneously is really the Satguru, or realized Soul of His time.

Infallible Technique Of Improving Human Behavior Satsang of Shri Hans Ji Maharaj in Delhi, India, 18th November, 1963

The Divine Light is seen when the Divine Eye is opened. Lord Krishna opened the Divine Eye of Arjuna and showed him the Divine Light. Sujata, the milk-maid, opened the Divine Eye of Lord Buddha and showed Him the Divine Light within Himself. Similarly Lord Jesus Christ, Hazrat Mohammed, Swami Ramakrishna, and others, all saw the Divine Light with the Divine Eye. When the Divine Light is seen and the mind is infused into it, it attains equanimity and stability.

This is the Knowledge that Jesus Christ gave, that Guru Nanak gave, that Krishna gave, that Ram gave, that Mohammed gave. And I am giving it. Supreme Knowledge. It is sacred. Top sacred! And it dwells within all of us. All human beings. And we are unable to know it without the help of the true Master. That is what I am teaching. Yes?

Supreme Knowledge

The Perfect One Is Here - Johannesburg during a tour of South Africa in 1972, when he was 14 years old.

Every satsang is just a discussion on one subject, and that is true Knowledge which brings peace of mind. Many great saints got fantastic experiences from this wonderful Knowledge and just wanted to spread it to all people. In every age a great saint like Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Mohammed and Christ has taken birth on Earth for this purpose; to give this Knowledge to other people because, in their time, the Truth had declined, spiritual understanding had been lost. As far as spiritual matters go, they were ages of darkness. Now in the same way, an age of darkness is again here and the Perfect One has come on Earth again to plant the seed of Truth.

What Is The Word? - Montrose, Colorado, on July 25, 1972

Jesus came into this world and gave this Knowledge to people. Mohammed came into this world and gave this Knowledge to people. Krishna gave this Knowledge to people. Ram gave this Knowledge to people. But now we must look for a living Master to show us the Light once again. Because the sun comes and goes away and we don't look for the light of the sun which has just gone. We look for the new rising sun. The sun is the same but it rises in a new way, in a new, beautiful way and we look for that. In the same way, God is the same, but now we must look for His coming and for His Knowledge. See, in the Bible it is written, "Christ will come," but what his face will be like has not been written, right? What his features will be has not been told. So what is the common test? What is the common thing that we can all realize him by? That is this Knowledge.

What Is Perfect? - Seattle, Washington, February 12, 1974

That is why in every era, in every age, when Jesus came, when Krishna came, when Mohammed came, when Lord Ram came, when Guru Nanak came, and all these Masters came, this is what they did. And virtually there was this relationship that was formed which was so beautiful. And now that that Knowledge has been given to us -- well, at least it has been given to the premies -- we have to understand what it is. Because, see, it is something that is the highest that we can ever expect from anything, it is something that is completely infinite.

The Subject Is Love Guru Maharaj Ji speaking in Denver, Colorado on 20 February 1977.

And premies, today is the time. Today, in our lives, right at this moment we have an opportunity to put that difference, to put that mind aside and really, really experience Knowledge. This is why Jesus came, this is why Ram came, this is why Krishna came, this is why Mohammed came, this is why Buddha came.

Aladdin's Lamp London, England, April 19, 1977

I just want to say that it is so beautiful to be able to come together to understand something far greater, far more superior, something so fantastic, something so beautiful which the Lord Himself comes - time and time again, on this Earth - to reveal. I mean. there has to be something worthwhile for Lord to come again and again. You have to look at it that way. Christ came. There had to be a reason. Krishna came. There had to be a reason. Mohammed came. There had to be a reason. Ram came. There had to be a reason. And of course, logically, we can try to look at every reason why but we can't understand even one reason why God is there. We can't understand that yet. People are still working on that.

Love Is What I Want Satsang given by Guru Maharaj Ji at Guru Puja in Tucson Arizona on Sunday, July 16, 1978

Muslims will not honour a statue, and Hindus will definitely honour a statue. It's like you go to the temple, you do this whole thing, and that's your god. And, "This god is everything." And to that Muslim, that god doesn't exist! It's the Koran. There was nothing before Koran, before Mohammed, and there is never going to be anything except the Koran.
Because one time Mohammed Sahib was in Mecca, and he was sleeping with his feet towards the holy place. And so the big honcho came down and said, " Hey, you! Don't point your feet towards the God." He said, "Well, then, why don't you move them to a place where there is no God?" And the guy was probably stunned a little bit or something like that.

No Limit Guru Maharaj Ji, 25th August 1978, Philadelphia

I know in the Islamic religion, there are these people -- I remember them from Dehra Dun -- who go around saying, "Hai Mohammed, ham na hotay! Hai Mohammed, ham na hotay!" And they're beating themselves with chains and they're bleeding, and they really get into it. And it's just an example of, "Oh, man! We are real idiots. Those guys were really idiots for doing all this stuff, not realizing that the Lord was there, that there was a purpose to their lives, that there was a reason to their lives."

The Movie Of Your Life Guru Maharaj Ji's satsang from Guru Puja, Miami Beach, Florida, on Saturday, 21st July, 1979.

You know it seems so evident that by now everybody would understand, that everybody would understand all the mistakes human beings have made in the past with the Perfect Masters and would not commit the same mistakes again. Too many stories and too many examples. The cost of every living Perfect Master who has incarnated into this Earth. Look at Krishna. Look at Ram. Look at Mohammed. Look at Buddha. Guru Nanak.

What is it? What is the experience?
You know, we think there are so many experiences out there. But every living Perfect Master has come to reveal one experience.

God's in his astrodome the village VOICE    November 22, 1973    11

Finally he spoke. "You want to be the richest man in the world?" Maharaj ji said: "I can make you rich. I have the only currency that doesn't go down … People think I'm a smuggler. You betcha I am. I smuggle peace from one country to another. This currency is really rich. But if you think I'm a smuggler then Jesus Christ was a smuggler and so was Lord Krishna and Mohammed."

How people recognize charisma: the case of darshan in Radhasoami and Divine Light Mission.
DuPertuis, Lucy (1986), Sociological Analysis, 47, Page 111-124. University of Guam

Various branches of Radhasoami have argued about the incarnationalism of Satguru (Lane, 1981). Guru Maharaj Ji has accepted it and identifies with Krishna and other incarnations of Vishnu.

Guru Maharaj Ji modified Radhasoami theology by identifying himself with great masters of all religions. Thus not only did he hint that he had been Krishna and Ram and Buddha, but among others, Christ and Mohammed as well. (In this he followed a common neo-Hindu practice of trying to universalize Hindu theology). He did not object when his followers persisted further by identifying him with all these saviors as they had been predicted to return: Kalki the tenth incarnation of Vishnu; Jesus Christ's second coming; the Buddha Matreiya; and the tenth Imam of Shiite Islam.

Theology 77
The Divine Light Mission (from its Denver offices in a Victorian building resembling a turn-of-thecentury department store that has been remodeled, but never renovated) is trying to tell the world that it is not a religion. While the philosophy of the young Guru Maharaj Ji, leader of the movement, has no elaborate theology, what theology is has reflects Hinduism, not Christianity and Judaism, from whose ranks come the masses of its membership.
The Divine Light Mission gives equal billing to all well-known religions and their scriptures, the Torah and all the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Koran, and the Bhagavadgita. Perhaps because the movement originated in India it emphasizes the teachings of the Hindu scriptures, the Bhagavadgita. The God of Divine Light resembles the impersonal concept of infinite power and energy of the Hindu omnipresence more than it does Western man's image of a rational and willful God who created the Universe and has a plan for it.
Premies learn that their guru is a messiah in a direct line of Perfect Masters that includes Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mohammed, Lord Krishna, Shri Hans (the young guru's late father), and the guru himself.
