Rawat used the scriptures to bolster his credibility early in his career in the West and often said that all scriptures talk about the Knowledge he reveals though the connections were fanciful in the extreme and are not accepted by the religious experts and leaders. He spoke of scriptures both positively and negatively as it suited him but as his ideas evolved he began to mention them more negatively, as being useless in providing a
practical experience of 'God' (later 'peace') in contrast to his revealing of the Knowledge as a living Master. Mention of the scriptures has continued to diminish into the 21st century.

And It Is Divine magazines
By the grace of Almighty Lord, we bring you the magazine And It Is Divine. You will find this magazine very different from others, because it shows not only the suffering of the world, but
also a way out for all humanity. There has never been a time when the Lord of Creation did not manifest Himself in human form, and come to this planet Earth to do away with evil and spread
the True Knowledge. But history is a pendulum which is always in swing. There have been so many scriptures, but still people have never been able to understand Him.

Shri Sant Ji Maharaj, July 29, 1966, Prem Nagar Ashram, Hardwar, India
Today, you have got this human body. It is most difficult to get it. The scriptures say, "With great luck we are born in human form. It is difficult even for the gods to attain the
human body. It is the only temple suitable for spiritual endeavors." To use it properly, we have to know that means which is the gateway to liberation. First of all, we have to realize why we
have got this human form. We have to know why we are alive. We should not arouse Guru Maharaj Ji's anger because we want only to see him all the time. When you are in the presence of Guru
Maharaj Ji, time stops, death does not exist. Guru Maharaj Ji is the creator of the whole universe. Still the world gives him pain and will keep giving him pain. He said, "Let me rest at
least for two days." You did not let him rest, but called him back to you. I feel that Guru Maharaj Ji is here and is giving satsang through my body. After all, what is in me? I have only
flesh, nerves, blood and bones. My body does not have anything more. But I have got the same soul as Guru Maharaj Ji. Guru Maharaj Ji is within me. He is in everyone. He is present in
everyone and also in me. So realize that Guru Maharaj Ji is himself speaking. Do not look only at my body.

The Ramayana sings the praises of satsang. Can such a great scripture be wrong? If the Ramayana is wrong, then the whole creation is wrong and the Creator is wrong. God Himself is
wrong. And if God is wrong then Guru Maharaj Ji's wrong. No. That can never be - I am confident of that. You may read where the scriptures have so much praise for satsang yet even though
it's praised in the scriptures so much, people still don't appreciate it.

This Knowledge - there is a description of this Knowledge in the scriptures, but this Knowledge is not in the scriptures. I can give you a wonderful explanation: "Oh, water is like this; water is like this; water is like this; water is like this …" but it won't take away your thirst. I am in a desert, and I am feeling thirsty, very thirsty, and I haven't got water to drink. Some people come to me and say, "Well, friend, see, this is the book I've written about water. Read this book." And I read that book, and it says, "Water is in Ganges, and water is created when H, and 0 are combined." I read that, but my thirst never goes away.

So how do we control this mind, by a rope, thick like an elephant's rope? This small knot can tie it?. No. You need a knowledge to control your mind, tie your mind up, because this mind is so
small, so tiny, so invisible, and thus you need this knowledge, and I am here and I am offering you this knowledge without taking a single pence. A special discount, an absolute discount, not
a single penny is being charged, and this knowledge is so, so - how should I explain it - even scriptures weren't able to explain this knowledge because this knowledge is the topic, the
subject beyond our mind, beyond our brain. The brain can't think how to operate the mind to this knowledge. This very empty brain - mind is very, very limited, very limited and this
knowledge is unlimited.

You have a physical form. You need a physical body to realize it. Now, if you have a formless God then you require a formless Guru to give you this knowledge. Because you have a form, you
require a form of Guru to give you a form of a devotee. You require that. For that you take the help of Guru; not only Guru - Satguru. "Sat" means truth and "Gu" means darkness and "Ru" means
to light a thing for us. I think that now you have understood, probably not wholly, then part of what I wanted to explain to you. Have you? I think so. Let's proceed further about it and
let's go to the scriptures. Now in the Essene Gospel it is clearly written that you need practical knowledge. Scriptures are dead. They cannot give you the practical knowledge. You
need alive for alive. A doctor needs a moving devotee, a patient who is alive. He cannot give medicine to a dead person. A king needs the people alive, not dead; and people need the king
alive, not dead.

Now, this Name. I am going to tell you something about this knowledge, or this Name. This Name is the most ancient thing. It has been described in all the scriptures, and whenever we
define it by our tongue, by worldly words, we define it as "energy," because energy is the only thing which cannot be created and cannot be destroyed. This knowledge is the perfect and the
pure energy, and thus, with it every human being, every living thing is alive. What is the means that will give us the satisfaction for which we are searching in the woods, in the rosary,
chanting mantras, going to temples, mosques, and many other places? What is that religion, according to the many scriptures? According to the many scriptures, the word "religion" has
been established from the word "realization." So, if this is the realization of God, that is why we have religion. Only realization of God can give us that peace, that satisfaction which we
are searching for. That is the only thing there is.

You have been hearing about this ancient goal, this ancient mystery of life, the definition which summarizes all the definitions of all the scriptures, the Gita, the Ramayana, the
Bible. This is the definition that the mystery of life, of the human life, is the cosmic unspoken Word which dwells amongst all the human beings. The Word which dwells amongst all is the
most cosmic and ancient one. Through this Word we are able to survive. We are able to be alive because this Word is fully functioning in us and this Word is vibrating us in a direction, in a
way, and thus we are alive. In the same way this Word vibrates in the earth, sky, air, and it is said by Saint Guru Nanak that this whole earth and this whole universe is entirely fixed upon
the Word, upon the Shabdh, or upon the unspoken Word.
Of course, for those of you who have come from outside, these are our ideas which we have placed just now before you, and you can compare them with any of the scriptures. Because this
is not new knowledge which is being broadcast throughout the world, but is the most, most, most ancient knowledge that is being broadcasted now. The most ancient knowledge. And this has
been fully described in all the gospels, in the Bible, in the Gita, in the Ramayana, in all the scriptures. So if you are interested in this knowledge, contact us. And every premie who
stays here should sit and do meditation. O.K.

If you only read the scriptures properly you will see that they all talk about a Living Master. No scripture exists which does not talk about true Knowledge, or divine
experience, being imparted to a disciple by a Living Master. We read the scriptures without understanding what they are saying.
So how are we going to recognize God if He comes on the Earth? Are you going to ask to see His identity card or passport? See if it says, "Name ... God. Occupation ... Generator, Operator,
Destroyer." That is foolish! Or are you going to recognize Him only if He fits in with your mental picture of Him, what you have picked up from the scriptures and other impressions,
what you imagine Jesus or Krishna looked like? But even two Christians will have different impressions of what Jesus will look like. So what will be recognized by one will not be recognized
by the other. But the test of the Perfect Master will be that which is undeniable to everybody and that is the experience of Himself which He can give, and this is the true Knowledge.

So now, if you are really interested in this Knowledge come to me. I have got it for you. You can take it by all means. People come and ask me, "Oh, we can't receive this Knowledge,
because we aren't into any spiritual scriptures and so on." But it doesn't matter. I say, "You don't need to be. If you haven't read, it's OK, because supposedly there was a time
when those scriptures were not there, yet still people were being given Knowledge. Now, which scripture did they used to read before they could receive Knowledge? So, it's just OK.
If you haven't read any scriptures, it's OK, still you can receive this Knowledge." What are people trying to do today? All the scriptures indicate towards one God. … All
the scriptures indicate God, so people started going on the scriptures.

Now, I think most of you understand that Truth is the only way. This is not a new thing - you might have read it in scriptures. But the problem is, how to get the Truth? You cannot
find it in the stores. There are no shops for Truth, so how are you going to find it? You need a man, you need someone who can give you the Truth, who can preach to you the Truth. When you
want to learn math, you need a math master. When you want to learn physics, you need a physics master. And when you want to learn perfection, you need a Perfect Master. When you approach this
Master, He reveals you the secret, the Truth, that is within us.

Is it possible to know God without the help of a Perfect Master?
The problem is that God is infinite, human beings are finite, and a finite thing is not able to deal with the infinite. Until the finite becomes infinite, it is quite impossible because a
relationship between God and a human being is impossible. But a Guru or Perfect Master -- what is the meaning of Perfect Master? The man who teaches math is called a math master. The man who
teaches physics is a physics master. The one who teaches us perfectness, we call a Perfect Master. He is the one who is both finite and infinite at the same time. He is the bridge that can
take us from our finite condition to an infinite one. But today, the whole world is stuck. The scriptures say "God exists," but people are stuck on the point that God exists. When a
scripture says "God exists" it means God exists! Realize Him. He is realizable. His existence is provable. Prove it to yourselves. Know it for yourselves. Understand it for yourselves. No
matter what religion a person believes in, he must understand that God is realizable now, in this century, in this age of darkness. So this is the whole process to know God. Once we approach
the proper source, it is not at all difficult because Perfect Master knows what to do. We just give ourselves into his hands.

We can use all our imaginations, our minds, our books, our scriptures, our talks, or spiritual discourses, to make you understand that there is something like that and you must get it.
You must get it. You must get it. But finally, when you realize, all of these stop. Because they just go to one point. ... But when we reach to that point, when we hit that point when God is
with us and when we are one with God, there is no more. And it's just completely Perfect and just completely beautiful. See? So that is why we have to understand people are becoming too
attached to this materialistic world. But how we have to be in this materialistic world is like a lotus flower, which is born in the dirty water, it's sustained by dirty water, but still it
does not touch the dirty water. It's beautiful. It's far above that dirty water you think about. And this is how we have got to be to live in this world, to be sustained by this world. You
still have food and everything, but still be like a lotus flower, still be away from it, far, far away from it. Because you can be. You can be like a lotus flower. And isn't a lotus flower
beautiful? I think it is. I think it's very beautiful. And this is what we have to be. And now, it's like different, different ways of explaining that one Perfection that all these
scriptures have described. Because it has been said in different words by different saints. They say the exact same thing of this realization, of this Perfectness. Because it is within
inside of us all. But it's only that we have to realize it. We only have to see within inside of us. And then once we see it -- I just told you, there is no question about it. Then you are
with Him. That's within inside of you.

There are so many scriptures, there are keys to scriptures, and there are so many people who love God, who want to talk about God. They have not necessarily ever seen God, but they
want to talk about it. They are sincere people, they are good people. They know that the power exists, and they want to bring a portion of humanity to that understanding so that they can
realize God. They want to give them a little start, a little lead. Now what we are trying to explain is that we know that we have a fantastic experience. We have something which is Knowledge;
we have something which is meditation. And meditation is the lead, the cable, that connects the two things, God and us, together.
And what our approach is, what we are trying to do, is bring that Knowledge to you that all the scriptures talk about, through which peace can be with you all the time. Because it is
within inside of you. That Lord, that power that we are all so desperately searching for, we also call it "omnipresent." And I am pretty well aware that all of you understand the meaning of
omnipresent. "Omnipresent" means present everywhere. So, when it is omnipresent, why go look for it outside? We are also a part of Him. That power is also within inside of us. Because it's
everywhere, it's also within inside of us.

And there's a lot of people who have ways with words. And I'm pretty sure I'm not one of those guys. But they have all these ways with words, and they get into them, and they call this a
mystery. You look at Bible. and you look at Gita, and you look at Ramayana, - and you look at all these scriptures. (Not that I've read any of those.)
But just the quotes that get thrown around back and forth are all these descriptions of this one thing, of this one most mystical, most fabulous thing. And here we are, granted that
opportunity to be able to unfold that greatest mystery.

Christ came in this world. And I guess I haven't read the whole Bible, and it's just very debatable what happened. And yet they say at the end of the whole thing that he came here to
save us, to give us salvation. He crucified himself. Why didn't he do it the first day? I mean, if that's the way you're going to look at it. Okay, maybe there was a reason why that whole
thing happened, but there is a lot that happened in between that that was completely incredible, that was completely beautiful. And he saved those lives, he saved those souls, he gave the
Light, he gave the Knowledge, he gave the Word, he gave that Water that those people were looking for, that those people wanted.

Guru Puja Festival, Tucson, Arizona, Friday, July 14, 1978.
Because there is a whole significance of Guru Puja to all the premies. And the manifestation of Guru Puja - when does it really become alive in our lives? Because let's look at it this way:
Whenever there have been people on this earth, there has been a Perfect Master. And the whole thing is, where, in history, has there been a justification of that Perfect Master? Where has
there been an overabundant response to that Perfect Master by the people of that time? Yeah, later on it's all great, it's all fantastic. And yet, you look at it: People read Bible. And Bible
is about Christ, about the satsang he gave, about the things he said to his disciples, to his people in that time. Because he was the Perfect Master. But you look at it and it's really
something, because there was a meaning to being there at that time, most definitely. Because that is the only reason why we even want to read some of those scriptures, some of those
things that were not directly written by Jesus, but were written later by John and Luke and Matthew and all the saints
Because I know there are people here who have come who maybe don't experience Knowledge. To them; yes, yes, of course. There's Guru Puja and I'm their Guru Maharaj Ji, and so on and so on and
so on. And then there are people who experience Knowledge in their lives, and I am their Guru Maharaj Ji, and they have come to Guru Puja, and there are no, "so on's and so on's and so
on's." It becomes very definite in our lives. Because this is not a theory. Nobody's trying to preach a theory to you. Those examples taken from Shastras or taken from scriptures and
taken from here and taken from there are just simply to try to give you an example. But this is not a theory. This is a practical experience.
And this is the most surprising and amazing thing. All these guys get up there and say, "Okay, man, give donations. Go to the holy places. Bathe in Ganges. Have spiritual rituals and you will
go to heaven. Read the scriptures and you will go to heaven." And in Gita itself, which is regarded as a scripture, Krishna is explaining to Arjuna that doing all these things, you
don't get me. You get me only by the true devotion. So premies, with all these controversial things, they call me controversial! Of all things that there are in this whole entire earth, I,
as Guru Maharaj Ji, have an experience for you, as premies. And when you receive that experience, when you feel that experience ... nobody tells you to, but you feel that bliss, you feel
that harmony, and that's the way it is. There are no ands, ifs, and buts about it. You don't have to read the big scriptures, you don't have to read anything!
Because look how many scriptures that have been written. How many Perfect Masters have been on this earth? And yet it had to be an individual, person-to-person basis. I mean, if that
Perfect Master wanted, he could have consolidated Mohammed, Jesus, Krishna, Ram, every one of them, in one format; John, Luke, Arjuna, Hanuman, in one format. And there'd be just two people,
and they'd just come down, and that would be it. But no, that's not the way it is.

Hanuman was asked, "What do you want? Would you like liberation?" Ram said, "I'll give you anything that you want." And he said, "I don't want liberation. What I am going to do with
liberation? I want devotion." Because when Hanuman could have merged with Ram, then it would have been above and beyond any best situation. It's just like that one example where they were
building a bridge. (Now when I say this, there's no certification behind it. It's just, that's the way it goes in Ramayana. And I haven't read that.)

And the thing is that there is this door. And beyond this door we know that there is something called peace, tranquility, Knowledge, I mean, what has been described in scriptures. The
ultimate thing. The Yoga of all the yogas. The Knowledge of all the Knowledges. The most divine Truth. In Bible; that "Word." In Koran ... I mean, in all languages, that incredible
perfection, that beauty, the thing that we all ought to know, lies behind the door. But we know that we need a key.

The thing is that I'm not here to teach a policy. I'm not here to preach a philosophy. I'm not here to teach scriptures. I'm not here to make scriptures. But, in fact, I'm here to

But because in our concepts, by reading all these scriptures, we get a concept, "Okay. This is what the Perfect Master is going to reveal to us. This is what a Perfect Master is
going to give to us. This is what Knowledge is." … How do you know what Truth is? By reading scriptures you can find out what Truth is? What are we doing here? Ninety degrees outside. What were we doing in Lingfield? Raining, cold,
windy, muddy. But Guru Maharaj Ji is there and he lines up … Guru Maharaj Ji is the Source and he lines up those individuals who are keen to receive what the Source has to offer. And when
that's all lined up he makes, through devotion, that ultimate joint happen; through that love, he makes that ultimate joint happen. He, through that love, through his mercy, through his
blessings, connects the two individuals so that he can reveal to those who are fortunate, those who want to know, those who need to know, the essence of their life. The Truth. Because there
has to be faith. If there is no faith in Guru Maharaj Ji, if there is no faith in Perfect Master, then how do you suppose the Knowledge is going to work? How do you suppose the cables can
link up? What Guru Maharaj Ji has to reveal to you is so sacred.

Guru Maharaj Ji comes in this world. First of all, why does Guru Maharaj come into this world? There is absolutely no reason why Guru Maharaj Ji should ever come into this world. In

Prem Rawat's
"Knowledge" has three parts: regularly listening to his speeches, doing voluntary work for organisations serving him or donating money and daily meditation correctly practicing the four
techniques he recommends. The techniques are so simple it's hard to see how they could be practiced incorrectly. First technique ("Divine Light") involves sticking your thumb and middle
finger on your eyeballs (NB: with eyes closed) and your index finger between your eyebrows. Second technique: ("Heavenly Music") poking your thumbs into your ears and listening. Third
technique: ("Holy Name") thinking about your breathing (NB: continue to breathe). Fourth technique: ("Nectar") curling your tongue backwards and tasting. Rawat's father taught slightly
different techniques but either way it's difficult to see how these could produce the benefits claimed for them especially as Rawat claims His Knowledge is the only method of attaining real
happiness and love in this life.
