Flag Day celebrated NEW DELHI NOV. 8. On the occasion of its foundation day, a delegation of Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) along with its National Commissioner, L.M. Jain, called on the Vice-President, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, at his residence here on Sunday and presented him their flag sticker. On the occasion, Mr. Shekhawat contributed a token amount for Flag Day. According to a BSG release, the delegation also called on the former Union Minister of State for Revenue, Rameshwar Thakur, at his residence and presented him their sticker. The BSG, one of the largest youth organisations of the country, has been functioning as a voluntary and non-political organisation. Sadbhawna Sammelan ends NEW DELHI NOV. 8. The three-day Sadbhawna Sammelan -- organised to work for national unity and integrity, respect for religions and establishment of world peace -- concluded at the Ramlila Grounds here today. The spiritual leader Satpal Maharaj presided over the function, which was attended by representatives from across the globe. The Congress general secretary, Motilal Vora, said: "Satpal Maharaj is doing his best to establish and strengthen national unity through his great missionary deeds. People have now realised that life without spiritual knowledge is meaningless and society without sadbhawna is not worth living." Media seminar organised NEW DELHI NOV. 8. The Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication, Pune, organised its annual media seminar, "Footprints 2004", on "The Fourth Estate: From Ink to Inc.?" at the PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry here today. The speakers included the Director of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, B.P. Sanjay; Assistant Editor of The Times of India, Vikas Singh; and the Resident Editor of Indian Express, Coomi Kapoor, among others. Social activist Nafisa Ali was the chief guest on the occasion. Students from various colleges across the city attended the seminar. An inter-college debate competition on "Debprints 2004" was organised on the topic, "Media Xplosion: Choice or Chaos?" Pune team wins trophy NEW DELHI NOV. 8. The three-day Central Reserve Police Force Annual Welfare exhibition-cum-fete organised by the CRPF Wives' Welfare Association (CWWA) ended here today. The Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, gave away prizes for the best stalls. Addressing the function, Ms. Dikshit said that such exhibitions would generate competitiveness among the womenfolk that would ultimately held them in realising the economic independence in the society. A running trophy and cash prize of Rs. 15,000 was given to the Group Centre Pune, which secured first position in best family welfare centres while cash prize of Rs. 10,000 was given to Group Centre Neemuch for securing second position. In RAF category, 107 Bn RAF, Bhopal, won the Best FW Centre prize. GC-II Ajmer bagged the first prize of Rs. 10,000 for best stall put up in the exhibition. The second prize of Rs. 7,500 and the third prize of Rs. 5000 went to GC New Delhi and GC Gurgaon.
