Rennie Davis - Spokesman for The Lord of The Universe
The person who brought the most publicity to Guru Maharaj Ji (Prem Rawat) is Rennie Davis, the famous anti-Vietnam war campaigner, one of the Chicago Seven conspiracy trial defendants. He stars in the "Lord of The Universe" and "Mysterious Miracles, Aliens from Spaceship Earth". He tirelessly explained how the political and counter-cultural movements of the 60's were just the fore-runners for Prem Rawat's mission to bring Peace to the World. His very personal, public testimony of the incredible effects of Prem Rawat's Knowledge and his certainty in and devotion to Maharaji's divinity are unequalled and may never be equalled. Here are a very few of those personal testimonies and cultural analyses and short video clips of these impassioned talks all of which were complete nonsense.
In 1973 he told the New York Times that he now loved him. "I would cross the planet on my hands and knees to touch his toe." He did not specify which toe.
He currently (circa 2011) works in the field of "personal wealth creation" via credulous investors in research into infinite energies and health modalities and is the Director of the phony Foundation for a New Humanity. In other words, a bullshitter ripping off the gullible. He sells Advanced Tuning Forks: For regenerating and relaxing themuscles, skeleton and nervous system of the human body and so much more. Much more? How much more could there be? Frequency Crystals: which put an energetic psychic immune system around you when you want to block out the negativity and fear of others. The Earth Crystal supports your work with plants, animals, weather and the Earth. It also includes subtle frequencies for opening your being and silencing the brain. Quantum Balance Elixirs: do much the same as the crystals but you drink them. Also known as Snake Oil. He does not regret anything, the names have changed but the bullshit remains the same, only th names have changed. In 2009, he reached a new nadir, driving around in motor home trying to find anyone to listen to him. The website is often not working.
Rennie Davis gave an introductory public speech at the event.
"It is not possible to understand the Middle East, or Watergate, or UFOs, or the super comet in the sky unless you understand the central event on this planet around which all other events now spin. Guru Maharaj Ji says: 'Life is like a chess game and very soon now the whole world will be checkmated' and if America wants to know what is happening it must first understand the main thing that is happening, the Lord is on the planet, he's in a human body and he's about to usher in the greatest change in the history of human civilisation."
Rennie, interviewed in a park in 1973, talks about Divine Light Mission:
"The thing we've got here is not only a movement that is incredibly efficient and incredibly together and built really on an incredible self-understanding but you see it's led by the Lord, heh heh heh."
Rennie Davis discusses Bhole Ji in an interview in the park:
"See, it's sort of like all the music of the 60's and the early 70's is being given back to us you know and you would never expect you know like uh I don't know, at first you think that's really far out, that's pretty good music, not bad group particularly considering the fact that it's only five months old and then you come out and realise it's being organised and conducted by the Lord of Music. Wait until people find out who Bhole Ji is!"
Rennie talks about the supposed biological bases of Maharaji's techniques of Knowledge:
"More and more believing that a natural physical or biological change takes place while experiencing this pure energy inside ourself, that there's actually a gland on the top of the brain called the pineal gland and that this gland is a light receptor and when we turn to the energy inside ourself which is light it activates a gland that right now in the human body is not active and this gland in turn secretes chemicals that leads to a whole harmonisation of the physical body so that the gland that ordinarily secretes chemicals that lead to fear and outrage and anger are actually brought under control."
Rennie talks about the true test of the guru:
"The thing is, there are many gurus in the world but it's not what you believe or whether you have any faith or whether you get high by his, by his words but whether or not he can actually show you that light inside of yourself that is keeping you alive. To me that's really the test of the guru."
"I suppose really the lives of a whole generation have just been a series of incredible surprises and certainly when I was in Chicago with Judge Hoffman in the trial of the Chicago Seven, you know, I just had just had no idea that you know that just a few years later I would be involved you know in a very deep meditation and really believing that a breakthrough in human consciousness was going to be the solution to the problems of the world."
In an impromptu satsang in the back of a car Rennie explains the reason the Astrodome was built.
"You know you see this Astrodome and uh the more time we've spent in here the more we realise that it really was built for this event. Have you ever, have you been in the celestial suite or heard about that?" "No, what is it?" "Well the Astroworld here, see that whole uppper part there, on the top, the elevator goes up to the green and all the think, that's called the Celestial suite and that's where the Holy Family will stay and the bedroom where Guru Maharaj Ji will sleep is called the Master Bedroom." "Oh wow!" "There's a little, wooden plaque and it says 'Master Bedroom' and then you walk into the master bedroom and it's just, it's just so incredible you know because first of all there's this magnificent chess set, you know, and Guru Maharaj Ji really loves to play chess, you know, and it's all in place and you walk in into the bedroom and there's this nice uh you know bathroom and everything but the the water fountains, the spigots on the water fountain are in the shape of a swan," "Oh no" "which is Guru Maharaj Ji's symbol, you know and uh this every little details like that its mind blowing just really really beautiful … down the last letter."
"Thousands of people are convinced from actual experiences that they have found in themselves, that they have experienced a breakthrough in consciousness that is perhaps one of the most dramatic and exciting changes in the history of civilisation."
"You know a little baby comes into the world and their their face is just completely like open and shining and just everything is so incredibly joyous well this meditation is like that, I mean it just puts you in in, it's so incredible, it's magic, it's, it's like being in love all of the time and you can actually work in the world, you can be in a very intense situation, you can be in a subway in New York city, you can be you know in a screaming battleground and yet you're just connected to a very pure and beautiful place inside and you're just completely open to life and it's really beautiful."
"You look back at your lifetime and you sort of feel like what you're doing now in Divine Light Mission is what you always wanted to do and it's rather like everyone sort of feels like every like whatever it was we were doing in the past, we're doing now and I'm rather getting that perspective about the whole generation that the vision we proclaimed in the streets of this country in the 1960's is actually what we're going to do now in the 70's and the 80's and it's actually going to be the generation of the 60's that is actually going to carry out this, thisw incredible change that we're talking about so people say well it's a big break with the past and do you look back at the past with regrets you know but I don't look at the past with any regret at all you know I just think it was really all a a warm-up you know and the political and cultural revolution it was just like, like I say a warm-up for the greatest transformation in the history of human civilisation and it's going to be far out."
Rennie's analysis of the search of the 60's leading to Prem Rawat and his Knowledge:
"You know to me the search of the whole 60's, the activity of the whole generation in the 60's was really, was really just a search for peace, to really try to find what are the root causes of war, of racism, of human suffering and I think that you know that whole period was really a search outside ourselves you know a search in the external world and I think we came to see that that actually our own human mind is what is creating war, is what creating separation, is what is creating our difficulties and many, many people in this country are are now sensing that, you know, without inner peace we can't have peace outside, if there can't be peace of mind you can't have peace on earth."
"We all have concepts about how a holy man should be, you know and we, we remember stories, you know, when I was growing up I was uh went to Sunday School in the Baptist Church and they always made a point in Sunday School about how the people of Christ's time had sort of a concept that he would come as a great king and when he came more according to the the ways of that time and,and rode into Jerusalem on a donkey you know it seemed like everybody freaked out it was just just peoples' concepts and now we have a concept about a holy man that goes sort of back 2,000 years and now we have a come to the 20th century and he rides in an airplanes and rides in cars and appears on television sets and it doesn't fit our concepts concept and we're beginning to see that perhaps it's a kind of cosmic joke maybe that this time he's come as a great king."
The most newsworthy aspect of Prem Rawat's mission was the membership and outspoken foolishness of Rennie Davis.
