News in Brief

An estimated 2,500 foreign followers, mostly young Americans who paid $430 round trip to come to India on chartered jetliners, camped on the outskirts of New Delhi awaiting the arrival today of Maharaj Ji, a 14-year-old Hindu guru they claim has given them "perfect knowledge." No marijuana smoke drifted over the neat, well-organized camp. Liquor and smoking were prohibited but the young devotees disclaimed interest in either.
