JIVA: Still Life

The album cover had a picture of the Holy Lotus Feet of Guru Maharaji (Prem Rawat) prominently displayed with a "Pranam Shri Sant Ji Maharaj" on the back cover though this name/title of the guru was out of date by then. By 1978 Jiva's lyrics were less direct but there were still many flashes of Maharaji's concepts being set to music:

Love is something real that you can feel and you can see and
You can be in all the time
So you need the Perfect One to open up the gates you can see in
You've got to know 'cause it's so easy

But I knew that you believed in me
And I believed in you. Let it go
Let it go was all you said to me
Let it go, let it flow
Was all you said to me
Felt the silence deep inside
There was nothing more to say
I felt your grace it had surrounded me
Wanted something more to do
But the stars rose in your eyes and I
Did nothing but surrender
You said
Love will always find a way

Just when you think it's gone
You hear it again come thru
Callin' you
To just let go and surrender
And remember
Yes he can hear you
He's always near you

Just For You

When you see your soul you realize all of the time what you've been missin'
And the lips you kiss you realize are not the lips that you've been kissing
We've got to be a little bit stronger
We've got to wait a little bit longer
Til the people understand
There's so much darkness in this land
And realize the love inside that's true
We've got to wait

Love is something real that you can feel and you can see and
You can be in all the time
So you need the perfect one to open up the gates you can see in
You've got to know 'cause it's so easy
You've got to grow 'cause it's so easy
Everyone can understand theres so much darkness in this land
And that it takes our souls to make us new
We've got to wait a little bit longer
Just for you

I'm not saying you can't do it you can do it if you really want to
Love will only come 'cause love's inside something you have to get into
We've got to be a little bit stronger
We've got to wait a little bit longer
'Til the people understand
There's so much darkness in this land
And that it takes our souls to make us new
We've got to wait a little bit longer
just for you

Love Is The Feeling

I had it all planned out
Like some captain on a sailing ship
Gazing at the stars at night
Mapping out his trip
Seagulls flying in the wind
And artists on the shore
Someone stole my heart tonight
just as I had planned to close that door

Sunlight warms my window pane
You warmed my heart and now I say
Standing in the morning sun
I see my life has just begun

A full moon's summer evening
And the air is very still
In a sweet child's bedtime story
Stands a castle on a hill
Scheming schemes on dreamy scenes
Is all I ever do
You came along I wrote this song
You alone can make my dreams come true

Well don't you let me close that door
'Cause I've been down
Been down too many times before
And I get up
get up so high when you're around
Makes me wonder
Whats this feeling that I found
Well don't you let me close that door
'Cause I've been down
Been down too many times before
And I get up
get up so high when you're around
Makes me wonder
Whats this feeling that I found
Makes me wonder
Is love the feeling that I found

You won't let me down
'Cause love's the feeling

Let It Go

I saw you last night in a dream
Caught in my disguise as I appeared
Outside your window
Wanted something more to do
But I knew that you believed in me
And I believed in you. Let it go
Let it go was all you said to me
Let it go, let it flow
Was all you said to me
Felt the silence deep inside
There was nothing more to say
I felt your grace it had surrounded me
Wanted something more to do
But the stars rose in your eyes and I
Did nothing but surrender
You said
Love will always find a way
As we go running through this masquerade
Through the veil of darkness you'll find
Your home

Take My Love *

Open the door that turns the key
To your heart
You're something special you've a load to uncart
What do we know about living
What do we know about dying
What do you say we start trying
To unwind the sign of the times
It's not hard it starts in your own yard
Take my love
Wear it well
Take my love
Too soon to tell how far we can go with love
I know it's old and that you've heard it before
I know it's also something you can't ignore
What do we know about living
What do we know about giving what do you say
We start living
For the day when sins wash away
When hate is no more just open your door

Hanging On To That Sand

I don't wanna be lonely no more
I feel bruised and sore
And wounded inside
I never wanted to find
Faces I've known
That lead me on a long road
Empty and wide
For such a very long time
Well I've listened to so many lies
Opinions and pride
Used as a tool
To take advantage of fools
So helpless and weak
Without the power to speak
Worldly the mold
In the feeling you hold

Hanging on to that sand
For so many lives
Now in this age we
Can sail to the light

So I know I'll be lonely no more
Knowing your word
Truly inside
And wanting all my life
In that one graceful flow
That you know
I've waited for you
No more waiting for you

You Belong To Me

Well if you tied a looser knot inside you girl you'd get right up
Feel the purest love between us
Giving up the cup that's running over us is pouring on to
Such a different world
Making sure your plans are stable
And after all you haven't got a thing to do with it
Whoa I can't say I'm much to blame
Just give in and you will see
That we can understand this crazy game

Whoa, what can I say
You know that we're really both the same

Yea you belong to me
And I belong to you
Yea you belong to me
And I belong to you

Well is that really not enough
I know you care but listen girl
We have lived a life of pleasure
Now its time to see just whether
We can live inside
With whats keeping us alive
Many times I got frustrated
Knowing just how long We've waited
For a chance to live
For a chance to give
To everybody

Whoa what can I say
You know that we're really both the same
As everybody- everybody

Yea you belong to me
And I belong to you

That Scene Again

Socks was lookin' for the good hotel
Where the boys were stayin'
Who could tell?

Give the tapdancer another room
He was three doors down
In the hallway gloom

That scene again
I thought you said the boys go on a plane
That scene again
The panic stricken man thinks he's to blame

Now the boys are on their merry way
From the place that they've been stayin
To the place they'll play

There's forty people in the dressing room
Gotta kick these people out
Cause we're goin' on soon
That scene again

I thought you said
the boys go on at ten
That scene again
Would someone tell that man he aint to blame
… know it's alright

Face The Light

Well you can stay all night in this illusion
Watch the trenchcoats fade down by the streetlight
A million unhappy faces watch the night go by
Fallen angels try to sing louder than the band

Hopes will fade in this illusion
Watch the empty hands reaching for something
More than just prayers and poetry and some promises
And with all their fallen graces
Their sad and empty faces
Still can face the light

Well we can all face the light
We can all face the fight

Visions fade in this illusion
From a drunkards dream down thru the alley
A brother gets touched by the spirit as he's crossing time
But he needs a dime and we just wind up slappin' hands

Life unfolds in this illusion
Like a lotus rose reaching for sunlight
A million swans with their broken wings end the nights parade
And with all their shallow voices
And all their vacant choices
Still can face the light

Well we can all face the light
We can all face the light

Words and music by M. Lanning & T. Hilton

Remember

You're thinkin' 'bout the way to change your life
Well baby it couldn't be better

You know we didn't have to realize our places
We just let go and surrender
And remember

That in the battle line
The calling voice can be heard
In its own time

Just when you think it's gone
You hear it again come thru
Callin' you
To just let go and surrender
And remember

Yes he can hear you
He's always near you

'Cause in the battle line
The calling voice can be heard
Give it some time
Just when you think its gone you hear it again come thru
Callin' you
To just let go and surrender
And remember
Give your love

Just don't waste it
You can taste it
Don't hold back just let go
Gotta give it all now
