At the end of November, just before he attended the Frankfurt conference (see Page 4), Guru Maharaj Ji celebrated Hans Jayanti in Swaziland, a small kingdom adjacent to South Africa. Chris MacIlrath from Mullumbimby, who attended the festival, sent us this news: Interview with John Miller Reprinted with thanks from Denver's community newspaper "Light Reading". |

| 4 Frankfurt: Closing the gaps Derek Harper recently returned from a conference with Maharaj Ji in Frankfurt, Germany. Attended by some community coordinators and community representatives as well as by national coordinators, the conference took place just after Guru Maharaj Ji dissolved the international headquarters in Denver. Shortly after his arrival in Sydney on December 1st, The Golden Age asked Derek for his impressions of what went on. |

| 28 Active Membership Program When you think of how much Maharaj Ji has done for us, it's hard to understand why so few of us do anything to help him. I guess you could put it down to laziness, or lack of understanding, but how much understanding and effort do you need to contribute to AMP. We're not wanting to build ivory towers or divine cities, we're just wanting to pay the rent, print the Age, pay back the money we owe IHQ, and keep the place together. But we need more help and we need it now. |
Prem Rawat's "Knowledge" has three parts: regularly listening to his speeches, doing voluntary work for organisations serving him or donating money and daily meditation correctly practicing the four techniques he recommends. The techniques are so simple it's hard to see how they could be practiced incorrectly. First technique ("Divine Light") involves sticking your thumb and middle finger on your eyeballs (NB: with eyes closed) and your index finger between your eyebrows. Second technique: ("Heavenly Music") poking your thumbs into your ears and listening. Third technique: ("Holy Name") thinking about your breathing (NB: continue to breathe). Fourth technique: ("Nectar") curling your tongue backwards and tasting. Rawat's father taught slightly different techniques but either way it's difficult to see how these could produce the benefits claimed for them especially as Rawat claims His Knowledge is the only method of attaining real happiness and love in this life.
