And It Is Divine, Volume I, Issue 12, October 1973

'And It Is Divine' was the name of this colour magazine published by Divine Light Mission in the USA from November 1972 until the late 1970's when it was replaced by 'Elan Vital'. It began as a monthly magazine attempting to carry a wide spectrum of articles relating to the wider alternative culture with highbrow pretensions and ended the same as all other Divine Light Mission magazines printing pictures and speeches of Prem Rawat's or his immediate family or close followers. Before 1974 every copy carried a signed manifesto by Sant Ji Maharaj stating "There has never been a time when the Lord of Creation did not manifest Himself in human form, and come to this planet Earth to do away with evil and spread the True Knowledge.

Something Perfect Guru Maharaj Ji began his Third World Peace Tour in New York City at the Louis Armstrong Stadium, July 28, 1973. Eight thousand people came to hear him give the following address.

I don't say I am a Perfect Master as you people would think of a Perfect Master. I say I am a Perfect Master, but how do I say I am perfect? I don't say I am bodily perfect, but I'll say I'm perfect because I can give you, I can reveal to you the perfectness inside you. Anyone who is teaching you science, you call him a science master; and anyone who teaches you woodwork, you call him a woodwork master. Well, I can teach you perfectness, so I don't think it will be too bad for me to call myself a Perfect Master, or for you, to call me a Perfect Master. It does not mean that I become bodily perfect, or anything like that -- no! Not at all. And I don't claim I am a Messiah or anything like that. Just one simple thing -- if you want peace, all right; I can give you peace. That's it. That's the whole deal.

Prem Rawat's "Knowledge" has three parts: regularly listening to his speeches, doing voluntary work for organisations serving him or donating money and daily meditation correctly practicing the four techniques he recommends. The techniques are so simple it's hard to see how they could be practiced incorrectly. First technique ("Divine Light") involves sticking your thumb and middle finger on your eyeballs (NB: with eyes closed) and your index finger between your eyebrows. Second technique: ("Heavenly Music") poking your thumbs into your ears and listening. Third technique: ("Holy Name") thinking about your breathing (NB: continue to breathe). Fourth technique: ("Nectar") curling your tongue backwards and tasting. Rawat's father taught slightly different techniques but either way it's difficult to see how these could produce the benefits claimed for them especially as Rawat claims His Knowledge is the only method of attaining real happiness and love in this life.
